New CEO for Sigrist-Photometer
Urs Aschwanden follows Urs Imholz

The Board of Directors of Sigrist-Photometer AG has appointed Mr Urs Aschwanden as the new CEO. Urs Aschwanden has taken over the operational management from his predecessor Urs Imholz in the role of CEO as of 10 March 2025.

Urs Aschwanden has many years of professional experience in the management of national and international companies. For Daetwyler Cabling, he was responsible for the development of various Asian locations for several years and managed the environmental office inNET Monitoring AG in Altdorf and Lucerne for more than 7 years. In his last professional role, he was CEO of ITS Kanal Services AG in Kriens. Together with his team, he developed the company organically and through acquisitions into a leading competence centre for sewer and surface services in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Urs Aschwanden and wishes him joy and success with Sigrist.

At the same time, the Board of Directors would like to express its thanks and appreciation to Urs Imholz for his work for Sigrist over the past year. Urs Imholz has focussed Sigrist even more strongly on the market and sales and created new business opportunities. He is leaving the company at his own request. The Board of Directors wishes him all the best for his personal and professional future.

Turbidity measurement at the lauter tun in the brewhouse of a brewery

Advantages of 25°/90° scattered light measurement:

In the brewhouse - the centrepiece of the brewing process - turbidity measurement at the outlet of the lauter tun plays an important role.

Turbidity measurement in a brewery's lauter tun is used to monitor the clarity of the wort by measuring the solids content. Precise control of turbidity is crucial to ensure the quality of the beer, as too much husk can lead to fermentation problems and flavour impairment.

Optimum turbidity values during the lautering process have a positive effect on subsequent process steps such as filtration and therefore save money by extending filter service life.

Our TurBiScat PM 40 monitors turbidity with a proven measuring principle, precisely and reliably; with MEBAK/EBC-compliant turbidity measurement using 25° scattered light measurement, the optimum method, sensitive to undissolved particles such as husks for monitoring the lautering process. Thanks to the second measuring angle at 90° for colloidal turbidity, the TurBiScat PM 40 can see even more.

Ideal both for pumping turbidity and for monitoring the entire lautering process. 80% of the lautering time the turbidity should be below 30 EBC.

The TurBiScat PM 40 offers low life cycle costs and enables an economical filtering process: lower turbidity after lautering ensures more efficient filtration later in the process with longer filter service lives and improves the chemical and physical stability of the beer.

Consorci d'Aigües de Tarragona (CAT) / Spain

The latest European Directive 2020/2184 established turbidity as a basic control parameter for the quality of drinking water. In anticipation of the new regulations, the Sigrist distribution partner in Spain, teqma, has worked with the Consorci d'Aigües de Tarragona (CAT), the water consortium of the city of Tarragona, to renew its turbidimeters. Tarragona is in the province of Tarragona with 860,000 inhabitants.

CAT installed the AquaScat 2 WTM from the Swiss company Sigrist-Photometer AG at the various measuring points of the treatment plant and the distribution network.

The AquaScat 2 WTM turbidity meter measures the turbidity in the free-falling water jet and thus enables a high resolution and accurate measurement down to low turbidity values of 0.001 FNU.

Road tunnel Gotthard / Switzerland

Since September 2007, a total of 210 Sigrist smoke detectors of the type FireGuard are in use in the Gotthard tunnel and its approach tunnels. Together with additional sensors such as linear fire alarm cables, flow measurement devices etc., the smoke detectors are the basis for the early detection of smoke and fire events.

In September 2016, after a period of use of 9 years, Mr. Werner Furrer, head of the Office for the Operation of National Roads (Switzerland), summarized their experience with the FireGuards as follows:

  • On average, there was one event per month, which was detected without fault
  • In a smoke event, the FireGuard is always the fastest system
  • No false alarms owing to correct parameterisation

ARA Neugut / Switzerland

The revised Water Protection Act, which came into effect on January 1, 2016, mandates for the elimination of micropollutants in wastewater. As a pioneering plant, ARA Neugut has been operating an ozone plant since 2014, where such micropollutants are successfully eliminated.

The installed ColorPlus 2 system ensures continuous measurement of UV absorbance at 254nm before and after the ozone reactor. This enables ARA Neugut to monitor the elimination performance and thus add ozone as needed. Additionally, the ColorPlus 2 system also performs an automatic cleaning every 3 to 4 hours to prevent biofilm growth and guarantee reliable measured values at all times.

Sigrist Document Cloud is a network drive that contains all of our documentation. You can use the Document Cloud to browse our documentation or you can synchronize it for offline use.

How do I use Sigrist Document Cloud?

Connect with your favorite WebDAV client to https://documents.sigrist.com/ and provide your sigrist.com login credentials (email and password) to log in.

How do I sync documents to my iPad/iPhone?

Follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the GoodReader app.
  2. Add a WebDAV server connection to https://documents.sigrist.com/.
  3. Provide your logon credentials (email and password) from sigrist.com.
  4. Highlight the root folder. You can also choose a subfolder if you want to synchronize partially.
  5. Press the Sync button.
  6. Select a target location, then press Download here & Synchronize.
  7. Select Download-only sync.
  8. Press Sync. The process will start immediately.
  9. If you would like to sync later, press the Sync button near the bottom right corner of the screen.

How do I sync documents to my Windows device?

Follow these steps:

  1. Download Sigrist Document Cloud Synchronization Utility.
  2. Install the apllication contained in the zip file.
  3. Provide your logon credentials (email and password) from sigrist.com.
  4. Set an empty directory as target.
  5. Start the synchronisation.

How do I sync documents to my Android device?

FolderSync Lite synchronizes our Document Cloud to your Android device. Use your favorite file manager to explore files and open them.

How do I sync the documents to my OS X device?

GoodSync For Mac (30$) synchronizes our Document Cloud to your Mac.
Or connect to our WebDAV server (https://documents.sigrist.com/), and use an app like Sync Folders to synchronize with your local drive.

How can I select what documents are beeing synchronized to my device?

The settings made on this page will take effect when you next synchronize with the Sigrist Document Cloud. Deselected files will be deleted and newly selected files will be downloaded.

You get the Error “Connection Failed” when you try to synchronize with the Sigrist Document Cloud Synchronization Program?

  • Try to connect with a browser to documents.sigrist.com and use your sigrist.com credentials to log in.
  • Switch off any personal firewall installed on your computer
  • Make shure that the company firwall allows the connection to documents.sigrist.com on the https-port (443)
  • Try installing the WinSCP Client and connect with WEBDAV to https://documents.sigrist.com, using the same credentials as on the synchronisation program

3 Forwarding of the newsletter to the newsletter subscribers. We use the title stated in your registration as well as your name (first name and last name) for addressing you personally in our newsletter. For determining the language and county-specific content of the newsletter, we use the language, the country and the country-specific version used for registration on the Sigrist-Photometer website. The company and branch of industry is used for the preparation of company- / branch-specific contents. 4 Analysis of the user behaviour of newsletter subscribers in our newsletter and on our website as well as the preparation of user profiles while using pseudonyms as well as subscriber segments based thereon for the purpose of personalization and needs oriented design of the newsletter. E. Recipients obtaining personal data

For the purposes described in Chapter D, we disclose personal data to the following service providers or categories of service provider:

  • Newsletter service provider (simultaneously hosting service provider); for sending our newsletter, we assign a processor. They have committed themselves to us to comply with the valid data protection provisions. A processing contract in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR was concluded. More detailed information concerning the processors can be requested at [email protected].
  • Sigrist-Photometer AG (also see Chapter A).

F. The period for which the personal data will be stored

Subscription data We comply with the principles of data avoidance and data economy. Subscription data To receive the newsletter, you have to state your e-mail address in the course of the registration. Failure to provide the e-mail address has as a consequence that we cannot send you the newsletter.

Data access, correction, erasure, restriction and portability

As regards the processing of personal data, you have the following rights:

  • To obtain access to your personal data in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR,
  • To obtain corection of your personal data in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR,
  • To obtain erasure of your personal data in accordance whit Art. 17 GDPR,
  • To obtain restriction of processing of your personal data in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR,
  • The right to data portability in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR.

Right to object

You have the right to object in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6 (f) GDPR (see Chapter D).

If personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes (see Chapter D), you shall have the right to object at any time to processing of personal data concerning you her for such marketing.

Right to revoke consent

If the processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (a) or Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR (see Chapter D), you have the right to revoke your consent at any time without affecting the legality of the processing carried out as a result of the consent until said consent was withdrawn.

Right of complaint at the supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint at a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 57 (1) (f) GDPR.
