Field of application for photometric oil trace measurement by means of fluorescence measurement. The gas and water always found in petroleum deposits are separated from the crude oil on the spot. The maximum amount of crude oil the produced water may contain is normally limited by law. (Ospar Regulations) On offshore rigs, for example, the water discharged to the sea may contain no more than 15 to 100 mg/l as peak concentration depending on national laws. SIGRIST Photometer monitors these levels with continuously operating and recording instruments, see Figure 30 (1). Because the SIGRIST fluorescence photometer is built to stand up to the harsh service conditions in this industry, it is predestined for this application. In particular, the windowless free-fall flow cell keeps servicing to a minimum.
